West Ham ‘crunch date emerges for Potter sack’ after Premier League fixture release

West Ham start their season away at Sunderland, a game Graham Potter will be hoping that his side is in good shape to win.

However, the new campaign will be no easy challenge for Potter, with pressure already on his shoulders after a poor end to last season.

With that in mind, and Premier League fixtures now released for the 2025/26 campaign, a key date for the boss’ calendar has already emerged.

Potter could face West Ham sack talk early on

After Julen Lopetegui’s disastrous tenure as West Ham manager, it was hoped that Potter would be able to revive things at the London Stadium.

However, his side struggled to ever get going and build momentum, which left supporters in East London feeling uncertain about their new era.

In Potter’s defence, West Ham were hit by injuries and there was a lack of movement in the winter transfer window due to PSR restrictions.

However, the pressure is now on to have a successful summer, getting recruitment spot on to push his side further up the table next season.

David Sullivan will still be concerned about the financial state of play and PSR restrictions, though, meaning sales will have to be made by West Ham before additions can be thought about.

Should Potter’s side fail to lift their standards, however, the pressure could be on the manager within weeks of the season starting.

With that in mind, all eyes may be on the Irons’ fourth game of the season as they prepare to face Tottenham at home.

This is always a big game in West Ham’s calendar and the implications could be massive.

Potter must get business right at West Ham

It’s only right that Potter be given the summer to shape his side after Lopetegui’s spending left the Englishman in a difficult position over the winter.

However, it is also fair that there are concerns over the form of the Hammers too, and the way they played their football in the second half of last season was not entirely convincing.

West Ham finished on top last season.

After a disastrous season for Spurs, West Ham did manage to finish on top in the Premier League this season, but the North London outfit are now looking towards a new era under Thomas Frank.

With games against Chelsea and Nottingham Forest before the big one versus Tottenham, Potter may well have a lot riding on that game.
