West Ham could revolutionise their midfield if they sign James McAtee from Manchester City in the January transfer window.
The Hammers have had a problem in midfield this season under Julen Lopetegui with issues going forward and in defensive areas.
The likes of Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez are coming under fire for their performances while Lucas Paqueta hasn’t been at his best.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium and now the Irons may have found a potential replacement who could revolutionise their midfield.

McAtee has been mooted as a top attacking midfielder transfer target in East London with Paqueta linked with a return to Brazil with Botafogo [The Sun].
If the Hammers’ star is to depart, there is no doubt that the 22-year-old could prove to be an excellent signing despite not being an exact like-for-like alternative.
The Manchester City academy talent has spent two spells on loan with Sheffield United in recent years and has been a standout in the Premier League and Championship.
His ability to get on the ball and drive forward would certainly be useful for Lopetegui’s side while also having an eye for a pass to create chances for his teammates.
The Citizen’s number 87 is industrious and isn’t afraid to track back where needed despite not being the most physically imposing.
This could prove to get the best out of someone like Tomas Soucek who will provide that physical nature alongside another defensive-minded player in a double pivot.
Although the England Under-21 international is stuck on the bench at the Etihad now if he is handed a starting and key role at the London Stadium, the Irons’ fortunes could be transformed.
