View: West Ham should plot £27m move for Mitrovic

Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic could be subject to transfer interest from West Ham in the summer window.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham boss David Moyes is an admirer of the Serbian, who enjoyed a good season in the Championship last term, bagging 26 goals in 41 games.

The Hammers are keen to sign a striker this summer to replace Sebastien Haller who left in January.

Michail Antonio has done a relatively decent job, but his injury worries are problematic and West Ham should be looking to sign a fit and able backup and alternative.

Mitrovic

Dicey but worth it

On an initial glance at his performances this season, one wouldn’t want to sign Mitrovic. He’s scored just three and assisted as many in 27 Premier League matches.

However, it’s worth noting that this Fulham side have been underwhelming, to say the least, and haven’t created too many goal-scoring opportunities which eventually led to their relegation.

It’s unfair to single out Mitrovic as he’s not had too many chances to prove his worth as he did in the Championship.

There’s a reason why former Fulham, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur forward Dimitar Berbatov rates the player so highly.

“I like Mitrovic because he doesn’t care who he is playing against, he is always bullying defenders,” he told The Daily Star. “He is strong and powerful in the air and hopefully Fulham can utilise fast players around him so they can give him the ball in the penalty area so he can bully the defenders and score.”

It’s a pretty safe bet to assume that Mitrovic has outgrown this side and would be a success at a club like West Ham that relies on set plays and crosses into the box.

He would be the perfect outlet for Vladimir Coufal and Aaron Cresswell’s deliveries while his hold-up play could benefit the likes of Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and Jesse Lingard (if we sign him), who can make runs off him.
