Wan-Bissaka wows, 4/10 teammate flops – West Ham player ratings v Manchester United

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was the standout performer for West Ham United as they beat Manchester United 2-0 on Sunday.

West Ham put an end to their eight-game winless run in the Premier League with a well-earned victory over the UEFA Europa League finalists at Old Trafford on 11 May.

Tomas Soucek put the Irons in front 26 minutes into the game, flicking the ball into the back of the net to finish a stunning build-up from the visitors.

Jarrod Bowen then doubled the lead for Graham Potter’s side just before the one-hour mark, thus sealing all three points for his team.

Wan-Bissaka wows on Old Trafford return

Wan-Bissaka was forced to play out of position, as Potter deployed the right-footer as a left wing-back, but that did not seem to have any impact on the Congo international.

The defender made sure he was the standout performer on his return to Old Trafford, a place he left for the London Stadium last year.

Apart from being a solid presence on the left-hand side, Wan-Bissaka also provided the assist for Bowen’s goal, putting the ball on a plate for the Irons captain to finish.

Alphonse Areola and Soucek also deserve credit for their contributions and were close competitors for the man of the match title.

Bowen was also among those who impressed for West Ham, as he took his goalscoring tally in the Premier League to 11.

However, that does not change the fact that some aspects of his play left much to be desired, with the Englishman failing to succeed in any of the three dribbles he attempted.

Jean-Clair Todibo was the only one who had a below-par afternoon, as he was substituted once again.

Although the Frenchman was a part of a defence that kept a much-anticipated clean sheet, he received significant protection from Coufal and Kilman.

Moreover Potter’s tendency to not allow the centre-back to play the entire 90 minutes has been source of frustration.
