Vladimir Coufal now surely done at West Ham United after latest news from London Stadium
Vladimir Coufal is now surely done at West Ham United amid transfer links with Brighton and Hove Albion ace Tariq Lamptey.
To put it politely, the Hammers have been poor this season. They currently sit 14th in the Premier League and it feels like they have no vision for their future.
At the start of the season, most expected them to be competing for the European places but instead, they’re almost being dragged into a relegation battle.
So, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see names such as Lamptey’s [Caught Offside, 12 November] linked with a move to the London Stadium ahead of the January window.
The defender would obviously come in and start competing for the starting right-back spot in Julen Lopetegui’s team with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but where would that leave Coufal?
The Czechia right-back has been a stalwart for the club but, as has been shown by Lopetegui’s preference for Wan-Bissaka this term, it feels like his time in London is coming to an end.
Tariq Lamptey would be a good signing for West Ham United
The Ghana international may not have had that much of a regular role within Fabian Hurzeler’s team this season, but it’s undeniable that there’s still a more than solid player within the defender.
He has a complete opposite playstyle to Wan-Bissaka, so not only would his arrival help bolster the defensive ranks, it would also give the Hammers ways to change up their tactics.
Lamptey is a very attacking-minded full-back and would help offer assistance at the top of the pitch – and perhaps even allow Jarrod Bowen to move into a more central role.

Not only would this allow Lopetegui to make the most out of the Englishman’s clinical finishing but it would also enable him to change his tactics to suit his opponents more frequently.
Of course, these are all ifs, buts and maybes at the moment, but if the 24-year-old does make the switch to the London Stadium, it would surely mark the end of Coufal’s West Ham era.
In other West Ham news, Ruud van Nistelrooy has been backed to go for the Hammers’ managerial hot seat if Julen Lopetegui is sacked.
