Vladimir Coufal ‘finally done at West Ham United’ as transfer update drops

Vladimir Coufal could be set to end his five-year spell at West Ham ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Czechia international joined the Hammers back in 2020 and has gone on to become a fan favourite at the London Stadium.

The 32-year-old was a regular under David Moyes but has seen his importance fall away somewhat since the Scot’s departure.

As a result, it could prove to be beneficial for all parties for the defender to move on, although now he looks set to be pushed before he decides to leave.

Kyle Walker-Peters could replace Coufal at West Ham

It appears that the former Slavia Prague man is on his way out of East London as his contract heads towards its expiry date at the end of the campaign.

Given how important the right-back has been for the Irons over the years, it wouldn’t have come as a surprise to see him given an extension.

That doesn’t appear to be in the pipeline from Graham Potter after the latest transfer development emerging out of the London Stadium.

The Hammers are keen on bringing in Walker-Peters from Southampton in the summer as the Saints look destined for relegation to the Championship [Ex-WHUEmployee].

The two-cap England international would provide excellent versatility in either full-back role, which would be useful ahead of the new Premier League season.

Ultimately, if Potter was to bring the 27-year-old in, it would likely leave Coufal with no chance of recovery and would make sense for him to move on.

Coufal to end West Ham stint

The Czech defender has struggled to prove himself this season with both Julen Lopetegui and Potter clearly unsure of his credentials.

This has been largely down to the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka who has been in excellent form and has become basically undroppable since his move from Manchester United.

With that being said, Coufal’s minutes have fallen and as a result, he may even be keen on a move away from E20 this summer.

Everton have shown an interest and if the right-back is to leave, that leaves space for Walker-Peters to come in from Southampton.

This is likely to improve the Hammers squad ahead of the new season, which can only be seen as a positive by the London Stadium faithful.
