Vladimir Coufal ‘exit surely now inevitable’ amid West Ham transfer news

West Ham United are primed for a pivotal summer window as Graham Potter looks to assemble his own squad in East London.

It has been an underwhelming season for the Hammers, who could have been flirting with relegation if it were not for the tame efforts of the three promoted sides.

Rumours have already started circulating about who Potter will bring in, with the right-back position an area of focus.

West Ham eyeing a new right-back

Right-back is an area of strength for the Irons, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka an assured and reliable performer for Potter.

Vladimir Coufal is another option the 49-year-old has at his disposal, but reports suggest the West Ham manager is keen on strengthening that position.

The Hammers are reportedly in the running to sign Juventus right-back Nicola Savona, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

Savona has enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Old Lady, making 33 appearances across all competitions.

While Wan Bissaka is the undisputed option on the right side of the defence, the 22-year-old would provide healthy competition.

The Italian is not the only full-back West Ham are tracking, with Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters also a target.

Walker-Peters’ contract will come to an end this summer, meaning he would represent an appealing option for any interested clubs.

Time is right for Coufal to leave West Ham

After over five years in East London, now feels like the right time for Coufal to seek a fresh challenge.

There can be no doubting the Czech Republic international’s contributions as he has racked up 175 appearances for the club.

Not only that, but he was a regular starter in West Ham’s UEFA Conference League triumph.

However, the 32-year-old has only made 17 appearances this season, with around half of those coming from the bench.

Coufal has been limited to opportunities this season

With his influence on the decline and reports of a new right-back incoming, it would be wise for the Czech to embark on a fresh chapter.

Considering his commitment to the claret and blue, the defender should not be short of suitors if he were to leave the London Stadium.

As Potter turns the page in East London, Coufal looks set to be left in the previous chapter but his influence will always be remembered.
