View: West Ham must sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin in summer amid links

West Ham must do everything they possibly can to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer with it being reported that the striker could leave Merseyside.

The Hammers are on “red alert” as Everton look to cash in on their star man in the summer according to The Sun on 26 March.

David Moyes has been crying out for more depth in the striker position this season and rightly so with Michail Antonio the only senior striker amongst the squad.

Not only would Calvert-Lewin provide the 31-year-old with some much-needed respite when necessary, but he would also be a massive improvement on the Jamaican and take the Irons to new heights as they look to build on a hugely impressive season.

Get it done.

It is vital that West Ham build on this season rather than standing still. Yes, it has been a brilliant season but if Moyes’ squad was slightly more robust, it could have been even better.

Even in his physical prime, Antonio would have struggled to lead the Hammers line all by himself but as he nears the end of his career at 31, the Hammers need to think of a succession plan rather than just wait for it to unfold before their eyes as they have done so many times – most notably their failure to replace Sebastian Haller.

Calvert-Lewin is the perfect man for the Irons and the way they like to play. Moyes’ side has been deadly from dead ball scenarios this season and what better way to pay homage to that success than adding the player with the most headed goals (12) since the start of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

He is a brilliant player with a great attitude and the Hammers would really benefit from having him in claret & blue.
