View: West Ham ace distraught after horrendous London Stadium scenes

West Ham winger Nikola Vlasic had to be consoled by his teammates after Ashley Westwood’s “serious” ankle injury in the first half.

The Premier League clash finished rather disappointingly in a 1-1 but it was the Claret’s midfielders injury that overshadowed the aftermath of the game.

Westwood was stretchered off after several minutes of treatment on the pitch after his leg buckled under the pressure of the Croatian Hammer.

Despite it not being his fault, the Irons forward was visibly distraught on the pitch.

Awful luck

Nobody wants to see an injury like that, no matter who it is or who they play for.

Westwood is set for a very long time out injured now which would be tough to take for any footballer. It really is rotten luck given the nature of the injury and hopefully, he can make a full recovery and be back playing his best football soon.

From a football perspective, it was another lacklustre domestic display from David Moyes’ side.

West Ham

The Irons’ eggs are seemingly all in the Europa League basket but not by choice it seems. The Scot is still picking full strength sides but the players just cany seem to get up for the Premier League games as they can for the luxurious Europa League clashes under the lights.

Of course, the exertions of their European escapade will be taking its toll on the players which is understandable but they need to finish the season strongly in the league to avoid Wolves overtaking them.

It would be great to book a place in the Champions League place by winning the cup but they need to finish seventh to guarantee European football next campaign.
