View: Disgraceful stat should force West Ham United chiefs into action in summer

West Ham boss David Moyes made fewer changes to his starting XI than any other manager in the Premier League this season.

The Scot does always like to play his best team but the fact that the Irons only have around 13/14 players that are up the level required is a massive part of it – it isn’t a choice, but rather forced.

It is bizarre how a team that has pushed so far into Europe and every other competition they have been involved in this season has made the fewest changes.

Their squad depth is a joke and if they had strengthened when they desperately needed to in January, this end of the season lull at the club might have been a celebration.

The Irons were more than capable of winning trophies this season and reaching the Champions League and Moyes needs to march straight to club chiefs and shove that statistic in their faces to force their hand in the upcoming transfer window.

Change.

It is time for the Hammers to get a transfer window right. Make no mistake they have made some brilliant signings over the last several years, for example, Kurt Zouma, Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen to name a few but that is the problem – you can only name a few.

West Ham

It is absolutely crucial that the east London outfit capitalises on the success they have enjoyed over the last couple of seasons.

It isn’t often that West Ham finds themselves in back to back European competitions and pushing for Champions League football as well as trophies – if they want to stay at this level they must strengthen their squad.

The workload has been far too heavy on these players this season and that has been clear with their gradual drop off in form over the course of the campaign.

Having a 32-year-old lead the line all by himself, without any backup, is a farce and something that needs to be addressed.

This is a huge summer for the club, one that they desperately need to get right.
