‘Summerville to be gutted’ as Arsenal transfer snub emerges at West Ham

Crysencio Summerville is bound to be frustrated as an Arsenal transfer looks set to fall through at West Ham.

The Dutchman signed from Leeds United in the summer but has struggled through injury and as a result, hasn’t imposed himself under Graham Potter thus far.

Looking ahead to the new Premier League season, the 23-year-old will have had hopes of proving himself on the biggest stage.

That could be set to face a blow after the Gunners moved to bring in Andrea Berta as sporting director, who is already putting his foot down at the Emirates.

Summerville set for Arsenal transfer blow

There have been some flashes of brilliance from the versatile attacking midfielder at the London Stadium despite making just seven league starts.

The former Feyenoord youngster hasn’t been helped by a string of injuries, which have seen him make just two appearances this calendar year.

Summerville would have been hopeful of building his fitness and becoming a regular next season, but that may now be tough for the summer signing.

This comes as Arsenal looks set to end their interest in Irons star Mohammed Kudus as Berta targets a different profile of attacker [Hammers News, 4 April].

Now the Gunners appear to be pushing for a deal to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club in the summer as the new director looks to utilise his contacts.

This could leave the Ghana international without an exit option and see him remain at the London Stadium for another season.

Unfortunately for Summerville, this would likely leave him with limited minutes even if he does reach full fitness and avoid regular injury concerns.

Kudus could remain at West Ham after Arsenal snub

There is no doubt that the former Ajax man has quality that could make him one of the most explosive players in the Premier League.

That was shown at certain points in his debut campaign in North London, where he contributed to 20 goals in all competitions.

By comparison, Kudus has registered just five goals and assists, which is far from good enough compared to his usual standards.

With that being said, the potential of unleashing that quality could prove to be a risk worth taking for Potter, which may not work out well for Summerville.
