Summerville to face brutal West Ham United axe ahead of Leicester City clash

Crysencio Summerville has finally been gifted an opportunity in the West Ham starting XI recently and has taken it in his stride.

The 23-year-old has started all four games since opening the scoring in the 2-1 win over Manchester United in October, taking up the left wing spot to support Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen.

While he only has one goal to show for his efforts, the Dutchman, who was dubbed “outstanding” by Daniel Farke last season [Sky Sports], has been a revelation for Julen Lopetegui’s side and continues to impress with his trickery on the ball.

Despite this, Summerville had been a rarely-seen player since his move from Leeds United in the summer, mainly due to Mohammed Kudus being the first-choice left winger and him being suspended.

Now, likely to the disappointment of the majority of fans at the London Stadium, that same situation could arise once again after the manager’s comments in his recent press conference.

Speaking to the media [Ben Dinnery], Lopetegui said: “Mohammed Kudus is back. He’s missed a lot of matches, but he’s fit and ready, which is good news because it’s a good thing to have more players available.”

Julen Lopetegui to drop Crysencio Summerville ahead of West Ham United clash?

While dropping Summerville to the bench would do absolutely nothing to help the pressure currently on Lopetegui’s shoulders, fans would be lying if they said they were totally shocked by the decision.

The manager has already stuck by Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez this season, both of whom have let him down entirely at different points, but he has still made those controversial decisions.

A lack of goal contributions will likely be his reason for switching Summerville and Kudus upon the latter’s return, having notched eight goals and six assists in the Premier League last term.

He has only hit the back of the net twice in the league so far this season, however, so the hope will be that Kudus is keen to prove himself and deliver an apology to the fans for his recent actions.

In other West Ham news, fans are surely spitting feathers after what Julen Lopetegui said about the 5-2 loss to Arsenal.
