‘Sullivan to go all out for Charlie Cresswell’ as West Ham eye defensive arrival

Charlie Creswell has emerged on West Ham’s transfer radar this summer.

Jean-Clair Todibo remains the only signing made at the London Stadium this summer, after the Irons turned his loan deal into a permanent one, though aside from that, there has been very little movement.

In fact, most of the focus has been on West Ham exits, with Mohammed Kudus one of those likely to leave in the coming weeks.

However, the Hammers will be intent on strengthening their squad for the new campaign, and Cresswell could be a shrewd option.

Cresswell could revolutionise West Ham defence

In terms of priorities this summer, West Ham will be intent on bolstering their forward line, and, of course, replacing Kudus if he does leave.

However, the foundations of a strong team start at the back, and the Irons need to bolster their defensive options where possible.

Thankfully, they have the opportunity to, after it was revealed that Cresswell could leave Toulouse for £18million this summer, and West Ham are keen.

The talented Englishman just played a crucial role at the U21 Euros with England, with his aerial dominance and presence on the ball his two biggest assets.

Those two things would see him thrive under Graham Potter, and this is a transfer that David Sullivan needs to go all out for at West Ham.

Potter needs to be backed by Sullivan

Had it not been for the lack of quality on display from the three newly promoted sides last season, West Ham could have been staring down the barrel of relegation.

With Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland all doing some smart business so far, the standard at the bottom looks set to be increased, and with no new additions, the same cannot be said about the Hammers.

West Ham need signings, and Potter will undoubtedly be keen to get them in and work with them before they face Sunderland in the season opener.
