Sullivan and West Ham left humiliated after mega-money transfer agreement

West Ham fans have been growing increasingly unhappy with their club’s transfer policy.

For many years now, it seems as if West Ham have been selling their best players and showing little ambition when it comes to replacing them.

Many fans have called for David Sullivan and the board to step down, such is their frustration at the situation.

These frustrations may be amplified after another transfer agreement elsewhere.

Liverpool agree deal to sign ex-West Ham target Hugo Ekitike

Hugo Ekitike, a transfer target for West Ham in 2023, looks set to seal a move to Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt for around £78million.

The French striker was being eyed by David Moyes when he was West Ham manager. He was at Paris Saint-Germain back then, and reportedly available for around £20m.

Ultimately, it was decided that it wasn’t a good deal. It’s unclear whether that was Moyes’ verdict or if it came from upstairs.

Either way, it has emerged that the Hammers could have signed one of Europe’s most reputable strikers, and ultimately made a huge profit from him.

Given West Ham’s current options up front, it’s understandable that fans may be upset, as Sullivan is once again looking rather foolish.

West Ham need some fresh blood in attack

The Hammers have made some tidy signings in defence this summer, while wing-back El Hadji Malick Diouf looks an exciting purchase.

However, Graham Potter’s squad is in desperate need of some firepower.

The Hammers scored just 46 Premier League goals last season, and they sold their best flair player, Mohammed Kudus.

Their strikers barely hit a barn door between them since Potter was hired. Currently, Jarrod Bowen is their only reliable source of goals.

West Ham weren’t realistically expected to compete with Liverpool for Ekitike this summer, but they need someone who can share the goalscoring burden with Bowen.

They have been linked with a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but that is exactly the type of bargain basement deal that has been frustrating West Ham fans for years now.

If Calvert-Lewin is brought in, he had better be joined by a more reliable striker and ideally an exciting winger as well. Otherwise, sentiment towards Sullivan and the board may hit an all-time low.
