Sam Allardyce has already outlined tactical view in ‘West Ham Way’ verdict

Sam Allardyce has opened himself up to potentially becoming the next West Ham manager.

Allardyce could welcome a move to West Ham in the coming weeks or months after speaking out to suggest he could return to management.

The Englishman could benefit as Nuno Espirito Santo comes under sack pressure at West Ham after just 16 matches in charge.

Allardyce has previously spoken out about Nuno and could be the man to replace the Portuguese head coach at the London Stadium.

There won’t be many calls for Allardyce to be appointed by the Hammers, but he has seemingly already set out his ideal tactical approach in East London.

Sam Allardyce could return to management

Nuno looks destined to be sacked by West Ham, with the defeat against Nottingham Forest representing a huge blow.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s late penalty secured a 2-1 win for the Reds and condemned the Hammers to a 10th consecutive game without a win.

If he is to be sacked, it appears that Allardyce is up for the job, after suggesting he could return to management at 71.

He said: “Right now? I think I would actually consider it. It’s only going to be a club that’s probably struggling again, isn’t it?

Keeping somebody up, I’m capable of sorting it out as quickly as possible, so if that’s somebody struggling in the Premier League…”

His introduction could kick-start a turnaround at the London Stadium, but based on previous comments, it could prove to be a terrible decision.

Allardyce describes ‘the West Ham Way’ as ‘nonsence’

Nuno is yet to be truly accepted by the Hammers faithful due to frustration surrounding his style of play and tactical approach.

David Moyes was let go for a very similar reason, as supporters want to see more attacking and free-flowing football in East London.

This has been coined as “the West Ham Way” over the years, but it is clear that Allardyce wouldn’t utilise that approach if he returned to E20.

Speaking on his podcast back in August 2024, the ex-Leeds United boss described that sentiment as “nonsense.

He said: “The new coach is going to try and play… let’s call it what everyone else calls it – ‘the West Ham Way’.

“I mean, it’s a nonsense, but there we go – people still talk about the ‘West Ham Way’.”

If Sullivan needed any further reason to find the appointment of Allardyce utterly ridiculous, these comments should provide clarity.
