Said Benrahma exit surely on the cards at West Ham after ‘one to watch’ Jack Clarke transfer update

West Ham were already in need of some reinforcement before the double blow of losing Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta to injury.

Throw in the fact that Mohammed Kudus is away representing Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations and all of a sudden David Moyes is facing a pretty big head at the London Stadium.

But even still, there are players within the ranks that the boss will probably not be too keen to keep this month and exits will likely be sanctioned.

And a transfer update Sky Sports News journalist James Savundra (9 January) added more fuel to rumours that Said Benrahma could be headed out.

Savundra said that a move for Sunderland left-winger Jack Clarke is definitely “one to watch” as the Hammers look to bolster their forward ranks.

The Mirror reported on 6 January that the Hammers are interested in signing the former Tottenham attacker this month but according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, the Black Cats are under “no pressure” to sell.

Savundra said of the situation: “It’s worth noting Sunderland aren’t panicking at this stage because Clarke still got two years left on his contract but he’s one of the players West Ham are looking at in this window and has 12 goals already for Sunderland who are trying to win Premier League promotion at the first time of asking, this is ‘definitely one to watch’.”

Clarke has been a top performer for the Black Cats this term, registering 12 goals and two assists in the Championship.

West Ham

If he were to arrive at the London Stadium this month then you have to expect it would speed up the exact of Benrahma, who has fallen out of favour this season.

The Algeria winger is on the exit list at West Ham because he has become a “big disappointment” to staff at the club, according to Claret & Hugh (5 January).

Benrahma has been linked with the likes of Lyon during the transfer window and, though nothing has materialised just yet, you get the sense that Moyes will not put up much of a fight to keep him.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers reportedly want to sign AZ Alkmaar striker Vangelis Pavlidis.
