Premier League have serious questions to answer as radio silence deafening in West Ham loss
West Ham were beaten three goals to nil by Wolves after a controversial penalty decision added to Nuno Espirito Santo’s woes.
Nuno was dealt a late blow pre-match when Lucas Paqueta was deemed unable to make the contest, forcing the Hammers boss to change his starting lineup.
West Ham are trying to avoid relegation, and a loss to Wolves is surely detrimental to survival hopes as things now look really worrying for the Irons.
After Rob Edwards’ side took the lead early on, West Ham‘s chances of a fightback were quenched when a lengthy VAR review ruled out a penalty for the Hammers.
Wolves’ Yerson Mosquera took Crysencio Summerville out, but referee Peter Bankes stuck to his decision after review.
What the Premier League have now done, or perhaps hasn’t done for the Hammers, is truly despicable.
Premier League offer no usual explanation over penalty call
West Ham only managed to get a single shot off in the first half despite having 60 per cent of possession.
Although despite conceding an early goal, the Hammers still had every chance of drawing back level in the contest, but it wasn’t meant to be.
The Premier League‘s official match centre account on X regularly provides updates on VAR decisions, which offer logical answers for referee choices.
Instead of giving West Ham the clarity they deserved over the penalty call, they decided not to offer a single word on Bankes’ decision.
The same was true of over controversial decisions checked by VAR. The radio silence over the lack of communication is simply bizarre.

Why Nuno Espirito Santo won’t be sacked yet
Unfortunately for West Ham fans, they may have to wait for the January transfer window to be over before Nuno is sacked.
David Sullivan seems to be heavily backing the Portuguese head coach, as Nuno’s first signing was announced on Thursday with the arrival of Pablo.
The first half versus Wolves was very clear to see that, with or without Nuno’s tactics, the Irons need more forwards.
West Ham’s next three Premier League fixtures:
- Nottingham Forest (H)
- Tottenham (A)
- Sunderland (H)
There’s a high chance that the West Ham board feel like Nuno needs time for new additions to come in and gel before they decide on the former Wolves boss’ future.
A crunch match against relegation rivals Nottingham Forest could be the fixture that spells the end if Nuno can’t lift spirits with a win next time out.
