Nuno to go the way of many before him at West Ham as David Sullivan transfer plan revealed
West Ham United need a big January transfer window in order to give themselves the best chance of avoiding Premier League relegation.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are now five points adrift of safety, and are on a run of six games without a win which stretches back to the start of November.
Manchester City beat West Ham 3-0 on Saturday, becoming the latest side to take points off the Hammers.
The East London outfit are already being linked with a number of targets ahead of the transfer window reopening, but Nuno is not having it all his own way.
David Sullivan overruling Nuno regarding transfers
West Ham are reportedly interested in Artem Dovbyk from Roma as they look to solve their centre-forward issues in the January window.
Niclas Fullkrug is all set to join AC Milan in the new year, so the Hammers are in desperate need of striker reinforcements.
However, Nuno will be unhappy that the East London side are targeting a player from Serie A, as he would prefer to recruit closer to home.
According to ExWHUEmployee on X, the Portuguese manager wants to sign domestic targets in the January transfer window.
That is not the view of David Sullivan and the West Ham board, though, who believe that there is better value abroad.
Sullivan is expected to be heavily involved in transfer dealings once again, which is not good news for Nuno’s future at the club.

Nuno set for inevitable after transfer disagreement
Sullivan disagreeing with a manager regarding recruitment is nothing new at West Ham, and it often ends with the man in the dugout being sacked.
David Moyes was reportedly unhappy at the billionaire’s involvement in transfer dealings during his second spell at the club, and was ultimately dismissed at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
It feels as if Nuno is already going down the same road as Moyes, as he tries to voice his own opinion on recruitment.
Of course, the 51-year-old fell out with Evangelos Marinakis in his previous job at Nottingham Forest, so he is clearly not afraid to speak up when he feels it is required.
West Ham could very easily be sleepwalking to another poor January window, which could mark the beginning of the end for Nuno at the London Stadium.
