Nuno Espirito Santo would significantly improve West Ham in area Graham Potter has struggled
West Ham’s torrid start to the Premier League now sees them in relegation zone.
The defensive woes facing West Ham so far this season have been apparent, whether it is different personnel or different formations, nothing seems to be helping improve the Irons’ defence.
Graham Potter’s side has conceded 11 goals across only four league matches.
West Ham were comfortably beaten by Tottenham on Sunday as calls for Potter to be sacked grew louder with the defeats continuing to pile up.
However, despite David Sullivan showing support for Potter, reports are linking Nuno Espirito Santo to replace the Englishman.

Nuno Espirito Santo would shore up West Ham defensively
After West Ham’s thrashing at the hands of Spurs, Potter was called out by the media, piling further pressure onto the former Chelsea boss.
As a result, there have been talks of David Sullivan sacking Potter, with Nuno being targeted by West Ham.
Although Nuno was sacked by Forest recently, the Portuguese boss did a tremendous job at the City Ground, leading them into Europe for the first time in almost three decades.
Their incredible 2024/25 campaign was built on a solid defensive record, with the Reds conceding the seventh fewest goals in the Premier League.
Nuno made smart signings with the backing of Evangelos Marinakis, including the addition of Nikola Milenkovic, who formed a solid partnership alongside Murillo.
Milenkovic and Murillo gave Forest the platform to achieve success, all while implementing an exciting, counter-attacking system.
Since Potter’s appointment in January | Stat |
Losses | 13 |
Clean Sheets | 4 |
Goals Conceded | 39 |
This is exactly what West Ham in defence, with Nuno capable of setting up his teams to be solid at the back and potent in attack.
Nuno Espirito Santo needs to be appointed as soon as possible
The experiment with Potter has proven to be a disaster, and it would be better to pull the plug on it now before the situation gets any more out of hand.
Nuno’s steady hand and experience in England is exactly what West Ham needs right now to get this team back to basics.
It is still early enough to turn things around, and giving Nuno time to work with this team can give him an insight into the changes he would like to make to his squad come the January transfer window.
