Nuno Espirito Santo sack decision made as West Ham ready new announcement
West Ham’s January intentions have painted a clear picture as to where the future lies for Nuno Espirito Santo.
West Ham sit four points adrift of safety in the Premier League after 19 games, and Nuno has played a big part in that regression.
Statistically, he is the worst manager in the Hammers’ history, with many people having expected him to have already faced the sack at the London Stadium.
However, after the latest news to have emerged from West Ham, it seems as though a final decision has now been made.
West Ham have no interest in sacking Nuno Espirito Santo
Nuno has been said to have been on the verge of the sack at West Ham already this season, but despite the fact that the Irons are winless in eight, he remains at the London Stadium.
To have survived that run of form immediately suggests that they have no interest in sacking him.
However, with three new arrivals said to be close, several of whom could be announced within the next 48 hours, it’s even more apparent that he is going to be given time.
- Pablo – Gil Vicente – Permanent deal
- Taty Castellanos – Lazio – Permanent deal
- Adama Traore – Fulham – Loan deal
West Ham would be foolish to recruit players for a manager under threat, unless they were absolutely certain he was not going to be going anywhere.
Not only that, but the Hammers have committed to spending over £40million so far this January, with a clear intent on staying in the league.
While it wouldn’t be impossible to see, it’s hard to imagine even West Ham being silly enough to sack a manager after that.
West Ham can’t afford to ignore other major concern
West Ham’s goalscoring record isnt something to be overly impressed with – it’s the sixth-worst in the Premier League.
The pending arrival of Taty Castellanos, as well as Pablo and Adama Traore, should help that, though to what extent remains unknown.
However, the Hammers also have the second-worst defensive record in the league, with 38 goals conceded from 19 games, which is only two fewer than Wolves, who sit at the bottom of the table with just three points.
These new attackers will have very little influence on their ability to avoid relegation unless defensive reinforcements are also brought in.
