Niclas Fullkrug’s West Ham exit could hinge on Leeds United ace

Niclas Fullkrug’s time as a West Ham player could come to an end in January.

West Ham’s 3-1 victory against Newcastle was a huge one, but it has done little to paper over the cracks that keep growing at the London Stadium.

Aside from the latest win, the Hammers have had an atrocious campaign, with issues defensively and offensively in the Premier League.

As a result, Fullkrug could be handed an escape route from West Ham, but one Leeds United loanee could have a big part to play in it.

Max Wober may hold Niclas Fullkrug’s fate in his hands

Fullkrug’s move to West Ham was a failure, though the same can be said about most strikers who have made the move to the London Stadium over the last few years.

As a result, it is almost certain that the Irons will be looking to sign yet another one in the January transfer window, though their ability to do so may hinge on whether or not they can offload Fullkrug.

Via Bild on 6 November, Werder Bremen are a potential landing spot for the German, but only on loan.

However, the Bundesliga outfit can only sign six loan players in a season, and they have already maxed out that quota.

One potential way around would be for the German side to cancel the loan of Max Wober, who joined from Leeds in the summer, and is yet to make an appearance.

With that said, at least at this stage, a move to his former club is looking unlikely.

Niclas Fullkrug’s 25/26 stats are a sight for sore eyes

Not only has Fullkrug failed to score for West Ham this season, but his stats showcase exactly why.

Via FotMob, the German has hit the target with just three of his eight shots, with a combined xG of 0.85.

Only 60.5 per cent of his attempted passes reach a teammate, with just 52 completed passes in the 380 minutes he has played this season.

Despite being known as a physical striker, specifically from his time in Germany, Fullkrug has won just 29.7 per cent of his duels, with only 34.8 per cent of his aerial duels resulting in him winning the ball.

His time here has been a nightmare, and the hope will be that it comes to an end sooner rather than later.
