Moyes could upset West Ham fans as matchday graphic released ahead of Arsenal

West Ham are looking to record a second victory over Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side this time, having beaten the Gunners in the EFL Cup in November.

Although performances have not seemed up to their usual high standards, Arsenal are still sitting in second place, two points behind Liverpool, while the Hammers are hoping to break into the top six.

However, West Ham fans have been sent into a spiral following West Ham’s matchday graphic release on Twitter, with David Moyes outcast Said Benrahma appearing in the post.

The Algerian has experienced a far-from-ideal season so far, starting 11 matches in all competitions but has not made the desired impact with just a single assist against Brighton in August.

And the hope is that the 28-year-old is nowhere near the squad tonight when the starting XI to face Arsenal is announced. Benrahma last started in West Ham’s 5-1 loss to Liverpool in the EFL Cup, with Moyes blasted for playing a weakened team.

It is true that the Hammers are amidst a difficult winter period, but so is every other club. So it is down to the manager to rotate his squad at the right times. Fans are hoping that the Arsenal fixture is not the time for this, with Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus the preferred attacking trio this season.

Sadly for Benrahma, it seems his career in East London is coming to an end after making 152 appearances since his move from Brentford in October 2020. He has tallied up 24 goals and 19 assists in that time, going from one of the first names on the teamsheet to a rotational role.

But it is understandable that Moyes prefers his normal front three, with the three combining for 31 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. There is hardly a spot in the team for Benrahma to fit right in.

His performances are not up to scratch this season. It is difficult to admit with his history and service at the club but now seems to be a good time to move forward from Benrahma.

In other West Ham news, sources close to the Hammers have claimed Michail Antonio is fit to play despite Moyes’ latest update.
