Maxwel Cornet surely bound for West Ham United exit as Steven Bergwijn transfer news emerges
West Ham United could be looking to seal their second player exit already in Maxwel Cornet as David Moyes plans a move for a brand new attacker in January.
The Hammers confirmed the departure of Thilo Kehrer on Friday (5 January) joining French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco on a six-month loan worth £431,000, which will include a mandatory clause to buy him for £9.5million (Fabrizio Romano, 4 January).
Kehrer made 12 appearances so far this season at the London Stadium with only four of them starts and could well be followed by fellow firing star Cornet who has severely suffered for minutes under Moyes.

Cornet who signed from Burnley in 2022 after some impressive performances at Turf Moor, has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, making only two league starts without contributing any goals or assists.
The Ivorian international has never really gotten his career in East London going since his move in 2022, going on to make 28 West Ham appearances with no goals and six assists [Transfermarkt].
West Ham United certainly have priority positions which need addressing in January but in order to do that, they need to sell players and it won’t be long before Moyes has chairman David Sullivan on the phone asking to seal a healthy financial cash boost on the rarely-seen attacker.

Turkish newspaper Takvim reported online (11 December) that Fenerbache are looking for reinforcements at centre-back and on the wings in the transfer window, and that Cornet’s representatives had been in talks.
The Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas reported on Wednesday (3 January) that the Hammers are yet to receive any offers for Cornet despite the links to his services but West Ham United have already identified a potential replacement which means Cornet could follow Kehrer out the door within a matter of days.
The Sun reported on 6 January that the Irons have already held preliminary talks with the representatives of Ajax forward Steven Bergwijn to discuss a potential January transfer move to the London Stadium.

The newspaper reported via their website on 6 January that, while a deal remains a long way off with plenty of pieces yet to fall into place, the Dutchman is desperate to move back to the Premier League.
It is also said that any deal will heavily depend on whether the Hammers can sell players to raise funds, while Ajax are unlikely to sanction a loan deal for their club captain.
If West Ham United are to seal a move for the former Tottenham Hotspur forward, they would need to sort out the exit of the likes of Cornet and that could be ramped up within a matter of days.
In other West Ham news, a star player has been ruled out until the end of January.
