Luis Guilherme ‘ready to redeem’ West Ham career as message sent

Luis Guilherme has not had the start to life at West Ham that he would have hoped for.

The Brazilian signed for the Hammers last summer, but has made just 12 appearances this term.

Although the forward saw his minutes increase somewhat under the management of Graham Potter, he was hooked at half-time in his first start for the Irons.

Ever since, the most Guilherme has played in a game for West Ham is 15 minutes.

Guilherme sends West Ham message

At just 19-years-old, it wasn’t necessarily expected that Guilherme would come to the London Stadium and knock Mohammed Kudus out of his place in the side.

However, his lack of minutes have been a concern, especially when he has failed to be particularly impressive when given the opportunity to play.

Guilherme has been underwhelming so far.

Tim Steidten has already admitted that getting Guilherme was a risk that didn’t pay off in East London and with PSR restrictions breathing down David Sullivan’s neck this summer, that risk looks even worse.

As Potter now looks ahead to a busy summer with the Irons, the pressure is on to improve the side significantly, leaving questions over what the future looks like for the Brazilian.

However, a new post on X (14 June) could suggest that the youngster is ready to turn things around.

Guilherme quoted the tweet announcing his signing from a year ago and posted a red love heart and hammer emoji alongside it.

Guilherme to step up for Potter

Guilherme may be young, but it is hard to deny that he has been a flop at the London Stadium so far.

When you look at the way other youngsters like Ollie Scarles have taken on their role in the first team, it does show that there is an opportunity there.

Guilherme’s post does suggest that he is keen to be a success in East London and Potter is known for his work with young players, which could lead to a change in form here.

The manager will have to work hard with the Brazilian over the summer, while the player himself must show that he is ready to redeem himself.

However, with Kudus lined up for a likely exit from West Ham this summer, Guilherme could suddenly find himself closer to first team action, an opportunity that he must be prepared to take.
