Graham Potter tops concerning West Ham record, David Sullivan must act now

Graham Potter is walking a metaphorical tightrope at West Ham after just two games.

West Ham were absolutely dreadful last season, and their domestic failures piled immediate pressure on Potter’s future at the London Stadium.

David Sullivan and Co. refused to pull an early trigger, with hopes of seeing improvement in the current campaign, and that is backfiring already.

West Ham’s opening day defeat to Sunderland was followed by a Chelsea demolition job at the London Stadium, with Potter now leading the way for a record he will not want to be affiliated with.

West Ham have conceded eight goals in two games

Conceding three away to Sunderland was bad enough, especially considering the nature of the goals, but things got significantly worse when the Irons shipped five at home to Chelsea in a 5-1 defeat.

Lucas Paqueta actually gave West Ham the lead, but the capitulation after the equaliser was nothing short of embarrassing.

West Ham have now conceded eight goals in their opening two games, and that is the first time in their Premier League history that they have fallen to those standards

West Ham’s worst starts after two games

Their previous record was seven goals conceded in the 2017-18 season, and with Potter now topping the chart, David Sullivan has to be considering sacking him.

After two games, it would cause a shock, but the longer he remains in charge, the worse things are going to get for the Hammers.

Who could West Ham appoint after Graham Potter?

Whenever a manager starts to come under threat, names of potential replacements immediately start flying around, though it may not be the case for West Ham.

After news emerged of Nuno Espirito Santo’s potential sacking at Nottingham Forest, it is clear what Sullivan needs to do.

If Santo does lose his job, Potter needs to go with him, and Sullivan needs to do everything in his power to bring the former to the London Stadium.

His style of play would be exciting, and more than anything, he would be able to get this squad back to winning games.
