Graham Potter still haunts West Ham with Emerson Palmieri treatment amid latest heroics

West Ham have been made to rue Graham Potter’s decision to discard Emerson Palmieri.

Nuno Espirito Santo is turning West Ham’s season around, but has been left at a disadvantage from the former head coach’s mistakes.

Potter decided that Emerson wasn’t good enough for the Hammers, so the full-back ended up leaving this summer, joining Marseille for a nothing fee of £865,600.

Since he left E20, Potter has somehow fallen upwards into the Sweden head coach role, but Emerson’s recent performances are proving the former is still managing to torment the Hammers.

Emerson Palmieri has been shining in the Champions League

Emerson provided an attacking threat for West Ham, often chipping in with goals and assists, despite being held back by Potter for the majority of his stay in East London.

Now, the Italian is thriving with the shackles off and put in a tremendous shift against Newcastle in Marseille’s 2-1 win in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Not only that, but the only game that Les Olympiens haven’t won in their last five games is when Emerson was suspended.

Marseille are in a qualification spot to face off in the Champions League play-off spots currently, and lots of the praise needs to be on Emerson for his stellar displays.

However, thanks to Nuno’s genius, the emergence of one Hammers star has softened the blow of Emerson’s wrongful exit.

El Hadji Malick Diouf can establish himself as key for West Ham

West Ham signed El Hadji Malick Diouf in the summer following Emerson’s departure.

The left-back has been a revelation of a signing, given the quality of performances already seen, despite his young age of 20.

Diouf has shown a real threat when attacking and already has three Premier League assists to his name, and has been unfortunate not to get more.

If the Senegalese defender keeps up his current form, he could even be a transfer worry for the Irons come January.

Either way, he’s definitely eased the pain of another Potter disaster with Emerson.
