Fullkrug looks finished at West Ham as major transfer development emerges

Niclas Fullkrug had a rotten first season at West Ham.

The German striker moved to the Premier League with a lot of promise last summer.

For Borussia Dortmund, Fullkrug netted 15 goals in all competitions in the 2023/24 campaign as the 32-year-old reached the Champions League final.

Yet, at the London Stadium, his season was plagued with injuries, and the striker only managed to net three goals for the Hammers.

As a result, Graham Potter has been on the hunt for a new striker this summer, with Callum Wilson being touted.

West Ham will surely look to sell Fullkrug this summer amid Wilson news

News emerged on Wednesday that Wilson was in talks to join West Ham

The former Newcastle United striker is now a free agent after being released from St. James’ Park.

Potter will be hoping to quickly seal the deal for the former England international to help add additional depth to his attack.

However, if all goes through, it will likely mean the end of Fullkrug at the Hammers.

While both strikers struggle with injuries, Wilson has the advantage of being English, which helps with registration.

On top of this, while the former Newcastle man underperformed last season, Potter will likely back himself to return the striker to form, whereas Fullkrug has not yet shown his talents under the manager.

As a result, with Fullkrug already being linked away from West Ham, it is likely that this will now become a reality.

Potter needs to end West Ham’s striker woes in the transfer market

For years, West Ham have failed to bring in a top striker.

Many of the Hammers’ attacking incomings have proved to be flops when moving to the London club.

This must simply be put to an end if West Ham are to move away from the relegation zone.

This summer, this has to be a priority for Potter, or the Englishman is at risk of another relegation battle.
