‘Emerson packing his bags’ as West Ham transfer announced

Emerson has been mooted for an exit from West Ham this summer.

The Irons have struggled to make the most of the summer transfer window as of yet, with the exit of Mohammed Kudus still the biggest talking point so far.

His exit to Tottenham banked West Ham around £55million, but Graham Potter is yet to see that reinvested into the playing squad.

There is every chance that the Hammers are looking to raise more funds before splashing the cash on new arrivals, and the sale of Emerson may now happen.

Kyle Walker-Peters could push Emerson out at West Ham

West Ham today announced the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters, and given his performances for Southampton last season, he isn’t likely to be a bit-part player.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right, Walker-Peters may be shifted over to the left side of defence, which has typically been occupied by Emerson.

However, given that Emerson has been linked with a move away from the Irons, it wouldn’t make sense to keep a player of that value as depth when there is such a need for improvement elsewhere.

West Ham will be looking at their options, but there is a chance that this arrival could spell the end of Emerson at the London Stadium.

Potter needs to see more movement

Had it not been for the lack of quality on show from the bottom three last season, West Ham could have been looking at a very different scenario this summer.

They can avoid that this season, but their ability to recruit well is going to play a crucial role in their ability to do that.

Time will tell if the Hammers are capable of bolstering their squad, with the new campaign less than a month away.
