Embarrassing West Ham footage perfectly sums up why David Sullivan needs to say goodbye in 23 seconds
David Sullivan has had a turbulent 15 years as the chairman of West Ham.
Sullivan, along with David Gold, acquired a 50 per cent share of West Ham United in January 2010 and has been the Hammers’ largest shareholder since Gold died in 2023.
In 2012, the Welsh businessman helped the Irons to promotion to the Premier League, and they have been a mainstay ever since.
However, in recent years, their top-flight status has been threatened, and West Ham fans are now calling for Sullivan to step down after plenty of disappointment in recent months.

Supporters leave the London Stadium after just 64 minutes
Sullivan isn’t the only one under pressure, with Graham Potter potentially facing the sack at West Ham after one win in four Premier League games.
The 3-0 defeat to Tottenham was disappointing for the Hammers, who capitulated after conceding the first goal early in the second half.
Tomas Soucek’s red card didn’t help things as they went three down after 64 minutes, with streams of supporters leaving the London Stadium early.
Notable achievements under Sullivan:
- UEFA Europa Conference League Winners (2023)
- Promotion to the Premier League (2012)
- Move to the London Stadium (2016)
The exodus of fans and the state of the stadium were a perfect representation of how bad things have gone under Sullivan’s ownership.
The move from the historic and atmospheric Boleyn Ground to the soulless London Stadium in 2016 has proved to be a failure.
West Ham used to be a club where opposition teams would be fearful to come to. Supporters would be right on top of players, and the Hammers were feared when they returned to the top-flight.
West Ham’s summer transfer window the tipping point for David Sullivan
Sullivan’s mistakes go all the way back to sacking David Moyes.
Replacing a winner with Julen Lopetegui left the Hammers with a mountain to climb, and Potter has so far been a failure.
However, after an atrocious summer transfer window, supporters’ frustrations seem to have grown with Sullivan.
West Ham are left with one fit striker in Callum Wilson after Niclas Fullkrug picked up an injury for Germany.
The Hammers will also now have to rely on James Ward-Prowse in midfield after Soucek’s dismissal.
Issues are mounting after a terrible transfer window in which money was brought in, but squad depth wasn’t added.
It is all adding up, and it’s time for Sullivan to finally say goodbye.
