Edson Alvarez masterclass, Emerson stinks out London Stadium – West Ham United player ratings v SC Freiburg

West Ham finished top of their Europa League group thanks to a 2-0 win against SC Freiburg on Thursday (14 December).

Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez grabbed the goals in the European encounter, with both strikes coming in the opening 45 minutes.

Here West Ham Zone rates the Hammers players out of 10 for their performances from the clash at the London Stadium:

Lukasz Fabianski – 8

The goalkeeper impressed once again at the London Stadium, with Fabianski making four saves on his way to an important clean sheet [Sofascore].

Vladimir Coufal – 7

The Czech Republic international impressed both defensively and offensively on a busy evening, with Coufal winning two of his three duels.

Konstantinos Mavropanos – 7

The Greek defender needed a top display to increase his confidence levels in claret and blue, and he did that with three clearances against Freiburg.

Nayef Aguerd – 6

The central defender was certainly forced to keep his concentration throughout the 90 minutes, and he certainly was on form in the air as Aguerd won four of his five aerial duels.

Emerson – 4

The left-back has impressed with his defending and attacking this season, but he endured a tough night at the London Stadium, losing possession of the ball 16 times.

Edson Alvarez – 9 (Man of the Match)

The Mexican perhaps produced his best display in claret and blue since his summer arrival from Ajax. Along with his goal and assist, the midfield ace registered a 93% passing accuracy and made two tackles, one clearance and one interception.

West Ham

James Ward-Prowse – 5

The midfielder had a quiet night for his usually high standards, with the former Southampton captain winning just one of his four duels.

Tomas Soucek – 7

Another impressive display from the Czech Republic international who has shone for the Hammers in recent times, with the midfielder registering a 93% passing accuracy.

Mohammed Kudus – 8

The Ghana international continues to set the London Stadium alight, with the attacker completing all three of his long passes, having scored a fine opener in the 14th minute.

Jarrod Bowen – 6

The England international was lively as always in the final third, with Bowen making two key passes against the Germans, one of which was a delicate assist for Alvarez.

West Ham

Lucas Paqueta – 5

Another typically important display from the start from the Brazilian attacker, who made three tackles, more than any other West Ham player, but he had little impact in the final third.
