‘Edson Alvarez destined for West Ham exit’ as Tottenham transfer battle emerges
Edson Alvarez could be preparing to depart West Ham at the end of the season as Tottenham look to rebuild their side.
The Lilywhites have had a dreadful season under Ange Postecoglou, slumping to 15th in the Premier League with very few positive signs.
With that being said, it hasn’t been sunshine and rainbows at the London Stadium with Graham Potter having a mixed spell since joining in January.
The head coach will be keen to put his stamp on the side in the summer, which could start with the sale of Alvarez.

Alvarez exit possible as Tottenham eye transfer
The Mexico international has had a difficult stint since signing from Ajax back in 2023, with few performances truly catching the eye.
It is fair to say that the 27-year-old has struggled to acclimate to the Premier League, with Potter trusting him in just 10 games since he was hired.
As a result, a departure from the London Stadium could make sense for all parties, especially if the Hammers could land Angel Gomes.
The England international has been consistently linked with an East London switch for many months as his contract looks set to expire with Lille.
Graeme Bailey reported on 16 April that the 24-year-old is the “dream signing” for the Irons as he could fit Potter’s system perfectly.
Despite this, a deal could be tough as Tottenham are “working hard on a deal of their own” ahead of the summer transfer window.
With Postecoglou’s job on the line and Spurs’ failings this campaign, there is every chance that the London Stadium represents a better prospect for the midfielder.
If Gomes were to pick a Hammers switch in the summer, there is every chance that Alvarez could be forced out of East London before the new season.

Gomes could shine at West Ham
There is no doubt that the former Manchester United youngster has the talent to be a star in the Premier League if he takes up the opportunity.
A move to play under Potter could allow him to thrive back in English football after making moves to France and Portugal over the past five years.
| Stat (Ligue 1 24/25) | Angel Gomes |
| Accurate passes | 289 |
| Chances created | 14 |
| Duels won | 37 |
| Recoveries | 20 |
If the former Chelsea head coach can convince the English midfielder of his project, there is no reason why Gomes won’t be wearing claret and blue ahead of the new campaign.
This would be a superb piece of business on a free transfer, which could free up the sale of Alvarez and allow for further signings to be made.
The 24-year-old could then slot into the midfield perfectly alongside the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Tomas Soucek if given the chance.
