Declan Rice running stats at World Cup will have David Moyes sweating buckets at West Ham United

Declan Rice has featured in every England World Cup match so far, and his running stats make for nervous reading for West Ham fans.

Rice is one of the first names on Gareth Southgate’s England teamsheet and the Three Lions extended their stay in Qatar this weekend with a 3-0 win over Senegal.

Rice played the whole 90 minutes in central midfield and put on a brilliant display to help England book a quarter-final meeting against France next week.

However, while the 23-year-old’s efforts made for incredible viewing, his running stats will have West Ham fans and David Moyes sweating.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Rice covered 12,061m against Senegal, more than any other England player – Harry Kane’s 10.8km ranked second.

On top of his distance covered, Rice also ranked first for sprints with 62. Jude Bellingham came in second with 61.

Stress

Moyes’ stress levels will be going through the roof. The Scotsman is under huge pressure to turn things around at West Ham in the second half of the season and Rice will be crucial to his plans.

An injury to the West Ham captain will be a huge blow and his running stats suggest he’s at huge risk of pulling up with an injury soon.

Southgate will need to monitor Rice’s work rate, but so far he’s only rested him for 30 minutes against Wales after England went 3-0.

If the Scotsman in Moyes wasn’t already hoping for England to crash out of the World Cup, he’ll be hoping for a France win next weekend so that Rice can return to London and rest up ahead of the Boxing Day clash against Arsenal.

If England do progress further into the tournament Moyes may be forced to give Rice an extended period of rest, leaving him without his captain for the Arsenal clash and potentially the visit from Brentford on 30 December.
