David Sullivan to feel wrath way beyond West Ham as taxpayers face further hit

West Ham’s dreadful form in the Premier League has left tensions at an all-time high at the London Stadium.

West Ham fans boycotted the loss to Brentford in their droves due to growing frustration aimed at David Sullivan and Karren Brady.

Sullivan’s is hugely unpopular at West Ham, with the mood at the London Stadium at an all-time low as the Hammers sit 19th in the Premier League table.

West Ham are now favourites to be relegated, and should this happen, Sullivan will once again be absorbed in financial issues.

West Ham face further financial trouble at the London Stadium

Upton Park was beloved amongst the fanbase, and the ambitious move to the ground that was used for the London 2012 Olympics has destroyed the atmosphere that the Hammers fans had previously built.

In a report by The Times on Thursday, it is claimed the British taxpayer will face a further bill of £2million if West Ham are relegated this season.

West Ham’s present annual rent of £4million at the London Stadium will be halved should they drop into the Championship.

The London Stadium has been at the centre of problems around the club, and if West Ham were to be relegated, the ground would become even more soulless than it currently is.

With West Ham hosting Newcastle on Sunday, another poor result will spark even more fury amongst the fanbase.

Further protests have been planned for the match against Newcastle, and this is not an issue that will go away for as long as Sullivan is in charge.

And should taxpayers be forced to dig into their pockets, Sullivan will feel the wrath far beyond the London Stadium.

The unfortunate thing for West Ham fans is that it looks unlikely that Sullivan will step down from his role in the near future.

David Sullivan has destroyed his reputation at West Ham

West Ham’s Conference League win in 2022-23 feels like a lifetime ago following the chaos that has transpired.

Declan Rice was never properly replaced in midfield, with recent signings not able to cope with the intensity of the top flight.

West Ham finished 14th in 2024-25, and the recruitment in the summer transfer window was abysmal, with Nuno Espirito Santo is the one who’s forced to pick up the pieces.

Sullivan’s relationship among supporters is completely broken, and his incompetence in hiring Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter is a massive factor in the team’s recent downfall.

At this moment, all supporters can do is fight against Sullivan’s stronghold over the club, yet it looks like the future of West Ham will get much worse before it starts to get better.
