David Sullivan has pants pulled down as fresh details emerge on West Ham winger exit

West Ham are wasting no time in the January transfer window, but it is not all good news for David Sullivan.

Sullivan is under pressure from fans to deliver in the transfer market as West Ham continue to be threatened by relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham have agreed a transfer with Gil Vicente striker Pablo, with the striker set to undergo a medical with the hope of featuring against Wolves on Saturday.

The Hammers have also had a £25million bid accepted for Taty Castellanos as they look to completely rejuvenate their attack with new additions to the squad.

West Ham have agreed a deal to sell Luis Guilherme to Sporting to raise funds, although the fee of £14.8m certainly isn’t as lucrative as it seems.

Luis Guilherme has performance-related add-ons in Sporting agreement

Guilherme joined the Hammers for £25.5m in June 2024, and it’s safe to say the young Brazilian hasn’t lived up to expectations.

In an update provided by Record’s print edition on Friday, Sporting put a fixed fee of around £12.2m on the table for the 19-year-old.

West Ham will then get up to £2.61m in various performance-related bonuses, meaning that payment is not guaranteed.

The Hammers also retain a percentage of any future sale, and Guilherme is expected to travel to Lisbon at any moment, arriving in the Portuguese capital at the beginning of the new week to undergo a medical.

Not only is Sullivan losing a significant amount of money on the deal, but letting Guilherme go has highlighted the huge waste of potential he had.

The fact West Ham have not told Sporting to cough up the fee in full is also a bad look.

It speaks volumes of the chairman’s credentials and reputation in E20, and yet another player has failed to hit the ground running during his reign.

Luis Guilherme sale is not the win David Sullivan thinks it is

In reality, West Ham could have got a much better fee for Guilherme, but the fact that they didn’t highlights their negligence.

The Record reports that the Portuguese outfit have set a release clause around £87m, which is an astronomical total for someone who has only scored done senior goal in his career.

The Brazilian wonderkid will likely go on to be sold for a lot more money in the future, and Sullivan will once again have to shoulder the blame if that is the case.
