David Moyes made to look ridiculous after what he’s now said about West Ham United
David Moyes has made himself look silly after criticising the West Ham United defence under Julen Lopetegui.
It has been an awful start for the Spaniard at the London Stadium, which has seen him oversee just three wins in the opening 10 Premier League games of the season.
This has not been an ideal start for a new era for the Hammers after Moyes was let go at the end of his contract, despite all the success he had with the club.
The former boss has now been speaking about the Irons under the Spaniard on the Football Daily Podcast (3 November) and has taken issue with the defensive aspect of the side.
He said: “They look as if they’re a bit more open than they’ve been before, potentially more liable to concede.”

Lopetegui’s side find themselves in 14th on 11 points right now, which isn’t what everyone expected but still isn’t the end of the world right now.
Despite that, Moyes has still taken a bit of a swipe at the ex-Real Madrid boss while also suggesting that he is deserving of more time.
If fans cast to minds back to last season under the Scot, against the same opposition that the Hammers have played so far this season, his side conceded 21 goals across nine fixtures.
By comparison, Lopetegui has coached his side and despite not having the best start, they’ve conceded 18, which is three goals better off.
Although this may not be a huge difference, it makes what Moyes is saying almost redundant and is a strange comment to make just months after finishing a season after conceding 74 goals.
The Hammers were even worse defensively last season under his watch against the exact same opposition.
The goals may be flowing in at the wrong end, but the additions of Max Kilman, Jean-Claire Todibo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have made the back line better, and that will hopefully soon begin to show.
