Crysencio Summerville rightly rewarded as new announcement made

Crysencio Summerville has emerged into one of West Ham’s best players under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Having signed for £25million plus add-ons from Leeds United in August 2024, Summerville made the move to West Ham to take them to another level.

Despite having a slow start to life in E20, he has finally found his feet under Nuno.

West Ham viewed Summerville as untouchable in the winter transfer window and rejected approaches from one Premier League side and two Serie A clubs.

Not only has he been subjected to interest from elsewhere, but the Premier League has given him recognition for his impressive form.

Crysencio Summerville earns nomination for Premier League Player of the Month award

West Ham are embroiled in a relegation battle, but that hasn’t stopped the Dutchman from stepping up his game in 2026.

The Premier League announced via its official website on Thursday morning that Summerville is one of eight candidates shortlisted to win the Player of the Month award for January.

The other nominees are Yasin Ayari (Brighton), Patrick Dorgu (Man United), Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea), Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth), Igor Thiago (Brentford), Harry Wilson (Fulham) and Florian Wirtz (Liverpool).

Summerville’s Premier League stats in January

After registering ineffective performances against Wolves and Nottingham Forest, the 24-year-old’s display away to Spurs on 17 January was a turning point.

He scored against Spurs, before heading home the opening goal in the following match versus Sunderland at the London Stadium.

Summerville ended the month with a brilliant strike against Chelsea, and as a result, he is aiming to win the award for the first time in his career.

It’s about time he got some wider recognition, although West Ham fans may not like it in the long run.

West Ham will do well to avoid selling Summerville at the end of the season

Without a shadow of doubt, Summerville has been excellent in recent weeks.

And West Ham are certainly reaping the rewards from his fine form as they aim to stay in the Premier League.

However, if they do fail to stay in the top flight, then Summerville’s future would be in huge doubt.

Rome reportedly submitted a big offer to sign him in the winter transfer window, and if he continues to excel, then several European clubs would start to take notice.

The positive news for the Hammers is that they would be able to earn a profit on the winger.

But, either way, they’ll be reluctant to lose one of their most important players.
