Crysencio Summerville needs to read the room, social media post will infuriate West Ham fans
Crysencio Summerville failed to read the room if his social media activity after West Ham’s draw with Brighton and Hove Albion is anything to go by.
West Ham had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon after Georginio Rutter cancelled out Jarrod Bowen’s opener late on.
Rutter’s equaliser against West Ham was controversial as there were two incidents in the build-up that should have led to it being ruled out.
The Premier League released a statement clarifying why Rutter’s goal stood, but while it shed light on the handball situation, it made no mention of the high boot earlier in the attack.
Summerville played 72 minutes for West Ham on the South Coast and has now failed to score or assist in nine of his 10 Premier League game this term, nine of those being starts.
Crysencio Summerville messages Georginio Rutter after Brighton draw
Rutter was public enemy number one among the West Ham fanbase on Sunday given many felt he effectively cheated in scoring his goal.
The ball clearly hit the forward on the arm before he had his initial shot saved, before then converting from close range.
Bizarrely, had Alphonse Areola not made the initial save, the goal would have been ruled off for offside.
Summerville clearly did not care about the backlash, though, as he shared an image of himself and Rutter together in the tunnel area on his personal Instagram account.
The image was originally shared by Rutter, with Summerville then adding the caption “my brother”.

The pair know each other well from their time together at Leeds United.
Nuno Espirito Santo has obvious solution to Summerville problem
Summerville missed two big chances against Brighton, which was the most of any player on the pitch.
While it could be argued the forward was lively throughout his time on the field and got into good positions, it counts for little if it does not equate to goals or assists.

Just one assist this season and zero goals is a terrible return for a player of Summerville’s quality.
The problem Nuno Espirito Santo faces is that if Bowen is not on it, West Ham do not really stand much of a chance.
The obvious solution is to sign a new wide player in the January window, but that will be easier said than done.
If Summerville does not sharpen up his shooting, though, or at least contribute with assists, his place in the side will understandably be called into question.
