Crysencio Summerville ‘could be finished’ at West Ham amid transfer news
The appointment of Graham Potter at West Ham will have given plenty of supporters optimism that better times are coming.
Although the Hammers are currently sitting 12th in the table and nine points off the top six, Julen Lopetegui struggled to get his side playing good football and results were inconsistent.
Therefore, it is hoped that Potter will push his side on to play a more attractive brand of football and climb up the table.
So far, the new boss has one win from his only Premier League game against Fulham but he will be keen to back this up with points against Crystal Palace on Saturday (18 January).
That being said, the 49-year-old will certainly be looking to strengthen his squad during the transfer window if he wants to start putting his mark on the future of the Irons.
Crysencio Summerville could be under threat at West Ham
One name that the Hammers have been linked to during the January transfer window is Ansu Fati. who is keen to leave Barcelona [Diario Sport, 16 January].
This would be an excellent signing for the Irons with Potter well known for his ability to transform young players and eventually turn them into a key player and a profitable asset.
With Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug all unavailable in East London for the foreseeable future due to injuries, the manager will be eager to bring in reinforcement and the 22-year-old could certainly do a job in Claret and Blue.
However, if this signing is sanctioned, it could spell trouble for Crysencio Summerville.
Fati is a winger rather than an out-and-out striker, which means he would be eyeing up the 23-year-old’s place in the squad.

Furthermore, since Summerville’s arrival at The London Stadium during the summer, he has failed to make much of an impression with just one goal and one assist to show from 19 Premier League appearances.
While Lopetegui struggled to get many players in his side going, given just how impressive the winger was in the Championship last term it could also suggest that the step up to the top flight came too soon.
There is to be a late call over Summerville’s availability ahead of the Crystal Palace game but if fit enough to play, the winger has to fight for his place in the team before a new face comes to take it from him.
If Fati were to arrive, it could mean Summerville is finished at the London Stadium.
In other West Ham news, active talks have kicked off for the transfer of an attacker who Potter greatly admires.
