Crysencio Summerville can be perfect solution for Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United

Julen Lopetegui should place his trust in Crysencio Summerville at West Ham United after an underwhelming start to the season.

The Hammers have won only once in the Premier League under the new boss with pressure ramping up in East London after only six league matches.

Summerville has been used sparingly by the Irons since his summer move from Leeds United but, with Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta failing to catch the eye in claret and blue, it could be time for Lopetegui to unleash his Dutch forward on the Premier League.

Crysensio Summerville deserves chance to impress at West Ham

There is a reason why Summerville was named Championship Player of the Year for Leeds last season and so far, he has been denied the opportunity to remind West Ham why they forked out a big-money fee for his services.

The Dutchman was electric in the second tier with 20 goals and nine assists in 46 league appearances albeit, the jump to the top flight is enormous, a consistent run of games for the first team could be exactly what he needs to get going in the Premier League.

Even if Summerville manages half his goal contributions from last term, he would be the second most prolific forward at West Ham behind Jarrod Bowen.

The 22-year-old struggled in the 5-1 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, however comparing one outing against one of the best sides in England is not a fair comparison to make when considering how impactful he can be for the Irons this year.

Whatever Lopetegui is doing in East London is not working, the results confirm this as a fact, something must change in the coming weeks, and with his attacking options failing to deliver in front of goal, choosing to persist with the same lineup would be ludicrous.

Summerville was signed to challenge the already established forwards at West Ham, if he cannot find minutes when they are underperforming, what was the point of spending £25million-plus for him to waste away on the bench?
