Chelsea leave door wide open for West Ham United to sign Armando Broja as transfer news emerges

Chelsea may well have left the door wide open for West Ham United to seal the transfer of striker Armando Broja in the January window.

UK-based online news outlet Football.London reported on 14 November that the Hammers could be handed the chance to sign the Albanian international in the winter window.

It’s been reported that the super-rich Blues are interested in making a marquee striker acquisition in January to bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s squad and that could leave the door open for Broja to exit Stamford Bridge.

The news outlet wrote: “Chelsea could sanction a departure for Armando Broja in their bid to buy Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

“West Ham could renew their interest in the Chelsea man in January with their interest well known.

“The Hammers were one of several Premier League clubs monitoring Broja’s situation 18 months ago before Thomas Tuchel revealed he was going nowhere, even tabling a bid worth in excess of £30m in a bid to land their man.”

Indeed, the East Londoners were strongly linked with the Albania international in the summer of 2022 before he suffered a serious knee injury, which forced the signing of Gianluca Scamacca instead.

After failing with another project signing in Scamcca, it seems as though West Ham United are attempting another in Broja and given their dire situation in the striker position, they desperately need to.

Michail Antonio is undergoing a rapid decline right now, Danny Ings has still failed to establish himself at the London Stadium since his move in January and youngster Divin Mubama is constantly being overlooked, while David Moyes has been forced to deploy Jarrod Bown as their main man up front.

The appeal is certainly there to try and sign the exciting Albanian given his tremendous qualities and potential, and it appears he needs another manager to consistently trust in his abilities if he is to hit the same levels he did during his Southampton loan during the 2021/22 campaign.

West Ham

West Ham United simply keep making needless and thoughtless striker signings in recent years but Broja should he fulfil his potential could represent a risk worth taking.

Given Chelsea seemingly leaving the door to his signature, the Hammers’ desperation for a quality focal point could see them make the move.

In other West Ham news, the club’s stance on another potential signing has emerged with the deal still yet to be complete.
