WHZ View: Chart-topping Osayi-Samuel could give West Ham more flair in attack
West Ham are reportedly considering a move for Queens Park Rangers star Bright Osayi-Samuel and the exciting winger could be the perfect man to add some more flair to David Moyes side.
TEAMtalk report that the Championship side will look to sell the player after failing to get him signed up a new contract.
Osayi-Samuel has been one of the star performers in the Championship, so it comes as no surprise to see top-fight teams circling for his signature.
As per Wyscout, Osayi-Samuel has completed more 1v1 dribbles than any other player in the second tier and averages 8.8 per 90 minutes.
He also ranks first in terms of the total number of progressive runs in the Championship and by some distance too.
The 23-year-old has recorded 85 progressive runs, 13 more than his nearest competitor in Brentford’s Josh Dasilva.
All these point towards an exciting and tricky winger who likes to try and beat his man and generally be positive on the ball in the final third.
Playing primarily from the right this season, Osayi-Samuel would provide Moyes with a brilliant alternative to Jarrod Bowen and take some of the attacking burdens off the former.
However, as per Transfermarkt, the QPR man has played from the left on six occasions this season – offering Moyes brilliant strength in depth across the board.
Much of Moyes’ success at West Ham has come down to strength and shape, but the move to bring in Said Behrahma into the team on a regular basis represents the chance to evaluate this Hammers side and become more expansive.
Osayi-Samuel would do exactly the same and provide that little bit of extra attacking intent that Moyes loses with the workman-like performances of Pablo Fornals.
Labelled an ‘elite player‘ by manager Mark Warburton, Osayi-Samuel is showing exactly why he is ready to take the step up into the Premier League and it could be a very astute piece of business for West Ham to snap him up.
