Ben Foster gets it totally wrong with Jarrod Bowen to Arsenal claim

Ben Foster was pretty conclusive in his opinion regarding Jarrod Bowen and the prospect of switching West Ham United for Arsenal.

The England international headed home to help the Hammers beat Arsenal 1-0 in North London on Saturday to take all three points and all but end the Gunners’ title hopes.

This victory was helped by Mikel Arteta’s side being without a recognised striker in their squad with Kai Havertz missing through injury.

This has sparked conversation from Ben Foster over a potential move for the Hammers skipper but he has got it completely wrong with his verdict.

Bowen unlikely to welcome Arsenal move despite Foster claim

It is safe to say that the 28-year-old has built his life around being an Irons player.

This has seen him start a family with Dani Dyer since moving to the London Stadium, daughter of famous Hammers fan Danny Dyer.

Tie this in with him scoring the Conference League-winning goal and being the club captain in East London could make his future safe in E20 for the long term.

This will certainly make supporters happy given how much of a positive impact in front of goal the Englishman has had since coming in from Hull City.

Despite this, former Manchester United keeper Foster has suggested Bowen isn’t at the level to start for Arsenal but would jump at a move to the Emirates.

Speaking on the Football Fill-In (25 February), he said: “I don’t think he’s a top-four player, he’s one rung below it. He would definitely start up front for Arsenal right now.

“£50million? He signed a new contract last year. I think you’d have to pay £50-60million but I think there would be a chance and Bowen would be open to it as well.”

Foster is miles off it with West Ham verdict for Bowen

Realistically, it would be a step up to go from the London Stadium to be fighting for a Premier League title with Arsenal but that doesn’t appear to be an issue for Bowen.

The Hammers captain seems to be more than happy with his family life while also being a standout player in Claret and Blue week in and week out.

This would likely prove to be a key element behind any decision being made if the Gunners were to make a move for the versatile forward.

There isn’t necessarily a guarantee that the skipper would turn a move down given his age and the stage of his career he is approaching but it would be a tough decision given the joy he has seen since becoming a Hammer.
