Alphonse Areola replacement: Three goalkeepers West Ham could sign
West Ham are reportedly prioritising their hunt for a new goalkeeper after securing the signing of El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Graham Potter is believed to be keen to replace Alphonse Areola as his number one for this upcoming season.
Below, West Ham Zone suggests three goalkeepers who could be among the prime candidates to start in goal for the Hammers.

Zion Suzuki
Zion Suzuki has 18 caps for Japan, and he’s only 22 years old.
He emerged as Parma’s number one last season, having been signed from J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds.
Despite his tender years, Suzuki rarely looked fazed throughout his 37 appearances in Serie A last season.
It could cost a lot to convince Parma to sell him, but West Ham are reportedly willing to test their resolve.
If Potter could get a deal sealed for Suzuki, he could easily be West Ham’s number one for the next decade.

Aaron Ramsdale has a point to prove in the Premier League
Aaron Ramsdale is a goalkeeper who will be more familiar to West Ham fans.
The England goalkeeper was relegated with Southampton last year, but was arguably their best player throughout the season. His saves stopped them from being humiliated even more in many Premier League games.
Ramsdale has been relegated three times – a statistic which is harming his reputation – but there’s no doubting his quality. He would absolutely be an upgrade on Areola.
Graham Potter is a huge admirer of Rads Hermansen
Mads Hermansen was also relegated from the Premier League with Leicester City, but is one of the only Leicester players who finished the season with his reputation intact.
The Danish goalkeeper, 25, has a big career ahead of him, and is arguably too good to be playing in the Championship.
Appearances | Minutes Played | Clean Sheets | Goals Conceded |
28 | 2475 | 1 | 60 |
Leicester aren’t willing to let him leave on the cheap, though. It’s expected that West Ham would have to pay as much as £35m to sign their stopper.
The Hammers haven’t made a bid yet, but there’s a chance that Potter could see this as a great long-term investment.
As the West Ham boss is prioritising the signing of a goalkeeper, it might not be long until we find out.
