‘Aguerd finished at West Ham’ as fresh transfer terms agreed at London Stadium
Nayef Aguerd could now have played his final game in a West Ham shirt.
The Moroccan spent the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign out on loan with La Liga side Real Sociedad, but it now seems as though he is destined to leave the Hammers permanently this summer.
West Ham have outlined Aguerd as a player who could be sold, as Graham Potter looks to cut the deadwood from his squad in order to make way for fresh faces.
The former Chelsea and Brighton boss will have designs on lifting his side up the Premier League table next term, but he won’t be able to do that without overhauling the options that he currently has at his disposal.

Aguerd finished as West Ham agree Hajdari terms
West Ham now appear to have taken a huge step towards signing Albian Hajdari, having reached a verbal agreement with the centre back, according to German journalist Dominik Schneider via X (20 July).
The Swiss international plies his trade in his homeland for Lugano, who have inserted a £4.3million release clause within his contract.
That figure will be music to the ears of David Sullivan and Co., and they will surely be massively keen to bring him to the London Stadium, given how insignificant a fee it would take.
However, the impending move for the Hajdari will likely represent the final nail in the coffin for Aguerd’s time in E20.
The former Rennes man has fallen a long way down the pecking order, and it was arguably a telling sign that Potter didn’t explore the possibility of bringing him back from his loan spell in the winter window, like he did with James Ward-Prowse.
Now that there is another new man seemingly set to arrive in Aguerd’s position, there will surely be no way back for him at the Hammers.
West Ham need to get the likes of Aguerd out of the door
West Ham have already rejected a loan approach for Aguerd, but they should be doing everything they can to get players like him out of the door this summer.
There are several players on the fringes of the squad who simply haven’t hit the required levels, and their presence is arguably hindering Potter’s ability to improve the side.
Sullivan is understandably trying to recoup some of the money that he spent on Aguerd, but at this stage, he might be best to try and cut his losses and open his mind to a potential loan deal instead.
If the Hammers’ chief could find a club willing to shoulder the majority of the defender’s wages, then it would at least take him off the payroll for another year.
It may not be the ideal scenario for the East Londoners, but it would secure the desired outcome of moving Aguerd on before the new campaign gets underway.
