‘You’ll be left aside’ – Moyes issues ultimatum to his West Ham players

David Moyes has said that any West Ham players who don’t want to keep moving the club forward will be ‘left aside’.

The Hammers find themselves fifth in the Premier League after playing ten games as fans begin to wonder if the club can target a European spot this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Moyes has claimed he is trying to ‘change the perception’ at the London Stadium while delivering an ultimatum to his players.

He said, “Being up there in a good position after 10 games is nice, the easy thing to say is that it doesn’t really mean anything at this moment in time.

“But it does because we want to do better, we want to change the perception here. There was a definite improvement [after project restart], a bigger energy.

“There’s a sort of younger feel about the team and I think they know now that this is where we’re going. We are going to keep improving and if you’re not going to join in you’ll be left aside.”

Moyes is certainly changing the perception of the club as West Ham could claim the scalp of another side who finished in the top six last season when they take on Manchester United this Saturday.

The Irons have beaten Leicester and drawn with Manchester City and Tottenham already this season which proves that Moyes’ side can compete with the best sides in the division.

They also took the lead and gave Liverpool a good game at Anfield and Hammers fans will be expecting a similarly spirited performance against the Red Devils.

2,000 of those fans will be inside the London Stadium as the Premier League welcomes back fans after a nine-month absence.

Despite the small number of fans allowed in, the atmosphere will be electric compared to the behind closed doors experience players have been managing with since July.

A win against Moyes’ former side will give Irons fans even more confidence that their club can achieve a European finish this season which would be remarkable considering how close the club came to being relegated last term.

In other West Ham news, Moyes has confirmed that Michail Antonio will miss his side’s clash with Manchester United on Saturday.
