Wright slams ‘poor’ West Ham duo Diop and Cresswell v Leeds
Ian Wright has singled out West Ham duo Issa Diop and Aaron Cresswell, following the Irons defeat on Sunday (January 9).
Leeds came away from the London Stadium as 3-2 winners after suffering an FA Cup defeat there exactly a week before.
Wright questioned the Hammers’ ‘poor’ defending as Jack Harrison netted a hat-trick for the Whites.

“West Ham did look to me, especially the way they started the game, they weren’t the West Ham that I was expecting to see.” He said on Match of the Day 2.
“There weren’t a lot of closing down, they are not quite at it.
When analysing Harrison’s second goal he said: “You look at Diop who had a poor game today, he did have a poor game.
“Cresswell, they aren’t quite aware of what is around them, Diop doesn’t even challenge for this.
“Cresswell is not aware of Harrison and he comes round the back of him and nicks the goal.”

Perspective
The West Ham fans won’t be overly disappointed with any of their players’ performances last time out against Leeds.
The team have been on an excellent win streak that has seen them make the surge up to fourth spot in the Premier League with a defeat inevitably coming at some point.
Disappointingly it does give Arsenal the chance to leapfrog David Moyes’ side up into the Champions League places but there is still a lot of football to play.
This is a good chance for Hammers to reflect on how far the club have come. Usually, one defeat and four wins in five games would be hugely celebrated at West Ham but it is vital to pick up every point possible as they look to secure top four.
It is a very optimistic target that the fans are more sold on than Moyes and the players probably are, but the year-on-year development is clear to see at the club. It is important to build on this season and not let any shortcomings derail this momentum at the club.
In other Hammers news, Antonio admits he wants to retire at West Ham outlining hugely ambitious targets.
