Wolves close to signing Mario Lemina for £10m, West Ham ace Craig Dawson also wanted
Wolverhampton Wanderers are still actively pursuing West Ham defender Craig Dawson, with the defender keen on making the move to the Molineux Stadium this month, according to TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.
The 32-year-old defender is looking to leave the London Stadium this month, as he wants to move closer to his family and a move to the Midlands provides the perfect opportunity for him to do that.
However, according to Claret & Hugh [11 January] the Hammers are unwilling to see him leave because of David Moyes’ limited resources in defence. A replacement will need to be signed for Dawson’s wish to be granted.
And according to TalkSPORT correspondent Crook, the defender is still being actively pursued by Wolves, who are also set to complete the £10m capture of Mario Lemina from French Ligue 1 outfit Nice.
Taking to Twitter [11 January], he revealed: “Wolves are still actively pursuing Craig Dawson as well with [the player] believed to be keen to move from West Ham.”
Huge Blow
The 32-year-old has formed a crucial component in Moyes’ setup ever since his move to the London Stadium in July 2021, especially becoming a key player in their terrific 2021/22 campaign where they finished seventh in the Premier League and their run to the Europa League semi-finals.
Dawson has gone on to make 87 appearances for the East London outfit, chipping with an impressive nine goals and his leadership and commanding presence both on the pitch and in the dressing room would be hugely missed were he to make the move for Wolves this month.

It is understandable the defender is seeking a move away to be closer to his family but a move to fellow league strugglers Wolves can be deemed as a huge blow to the Hammers.
The former West Brom defender could immediately walk into Julen Lopetegui’s side and improve them whilst weakening West Ham. Moyes desperately needs a quality replacement this month, as their status in the English top-flight could well depend on them signing a quality defender capable of immediately filling Dawson’s shoes.
He will be sorely missed in East London.
