WHZ View: Moyes comments on future a huge boost for West Ham fans

West Ham boss David Moyes says he has no interest in leaving the club amid speculation he’s on the list of names for the vacant Celtic job.

And that’s fantastic news for all Hammers fans.

In his second stint with the Hammers, Moyes has taken the cub from relegation battlers up to the Champions League spaces in 14 months.

As reported by the Evening Standard, the boss said he doesn’t plan on leaving, despite not yet signing a new deal. He said: “I’ve got no intentions of going anywhere.

“I’ve already spoken to David Sullivan, we’re up to date and things are quietly ticking along.

“I don’t want anything to come in the way of what we’re doing just now. I’m not going to come out and say I’m signing a big contract or doing anything else in any way might change things around. I just really want to go about the job and try to be professional.

“I am really happy here, I enjoy the people I work with and there has been a great improvement on and off the field here at West Ham.”

West Ham

It will be the most popular contract offer the board give this summer. And not many of us would have thought that possible at the start of the season.

We simply must sign Moyes to a new deal. By the sounds of it, the feeling with him is mutual. It’s very exciting to hear that he wants to build on the success of this season and see us finish up the table regularly.

He did such a fantastic job with Everton, finishing fourth with them in 2005. Much of their continued success to this day is down to the work he did prior to joining Manchester United.

It’s really good to see Moyes have some respect back on his name. He had some rather unsuccessful spells with United, Sunderland, and Real Sociedad. It’s great to see him back to his best at a club that loves him.

Many fans, us included, were underwhelmed by his return. We thought he’d keep us up, but it was hard to imagine the performances we’ve had this season.

The main change has been our new approach with transfers, again which is down to Moyes. He is keen to change the recruitment structure at the club so this continues. This will likely be a stipulation on his contract when it gets agreed.

Let’s get this sorted out at the end of the season and see what he can build with us.
