Which games George Earthy will miss as injury details revealed for West Ham youngster

George Earthy was expected to be in the West Ham squad to face Everton on Monday night.

His absence was overshadowed by Nuno Espirito Santo leaving James Ward-Prowse at home after a poor start to the season from the midfielder.

It has now been confirmed that Earthy has picked up a hamstring injury during training for the Hammers and is set to be out for a long period of time.

It’s a blow for the youngster who would likely have joined Freddie Potts in coming off the bench to play in the 1-1 draw with Everton.

George Earthy to miss ten weeks after hamstring injury

Earthy turned down multiple Championship loan offers in the summer in order to stay and fight for his place in East London.

Earthy’s faith wasn’t repaid by Graham Potter, who consistently elected to play Ward-Prowse even though their midfield was struggling.

The announcement of Nuno’s arrival was likely to mean he would earn more minutes, but an injury setback means he won’t be back on the grass for another ten weeks, according to The Athletic.

It means that he will miss a total of seven games, including important and winnable fixtures against Brentford on 20 October and Leeds on 24 October.

Earthy will also be unavailable for tough tests against Liverpool on 30 November and Manchester United on 3 December.

The 21-year-old will likely return for the game against Aston Villa on 13 December.

Nuno will need to rely on Potts to stay fit in the coming weeks, with the Hammers’ midfield lacking any depth.

George Earthy’s injuries could cost him his West Ham future

If injuries continue to persist, the Portuguese manager could be forced to reintegrate Ward-Prowse back into the side.

Earthy picked up multiple injuries over the summer after a successful loan spell at Bristol City last season.

His latest setback could prove costly, with the midfielder having less than 12 months remaining on his contract.

With the January transfer window coming up, West Ham will have to make a decision on whether to sell the youngster or offer him a new contract.
