What West Ham said about Graham Potter 12 days ago makes no sense
West Ham fans submitted a letter of no confidence to the hierarchy after a series of failures over the last 18 months.
David Sullivan has come under fire for his dismissal of David Moyes after the Hammers finished 9th and had a number of successful seasons under the Scotsman.
Since then, the Irons have narrowly avoided relegation twice and have appointed successors who have failed to replicate Moyes’ success.
West Ham’s appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo could bring European football back to the London Stadium, but plenty needs to be improved across the hierarchy.

West Ham backed Graham Potter just ten days before his dismissal
After West Ham fans submitted the letter of no confidence, the club fired back with a response that failed to address several key issues.
The lack of summer signings was blamed on the need to sell to buy, and the Profit and Sustainability rules.
West Ham also backed Potter at the time, despite going on to interview multiple managerial candidates behind his back.
- West Ham lined the streets before the defeat to Crystal Palace in protest against the owners
- Karren Brady and David Sullivan are being asked to step down
In the reply to supporters, West Ham wrote: “Steps have already been taken to implement a new strategy – particularly in the area of player recruitment.
“We’ve appointed Graham Potter as our new Head Coach. His role is to build and develop a first team in line with the Club’s identity and objectives.“
The statement appeared to show that they had faith in the 50-year-old to turn things around in East London, despite going on to sack him just 10 days later.

Nuno Espirito Santo to avoid treatment Graham Potter was given
The dismissal of Potter was done in a disappointing manner.
The former Chelsea boss deserved to be sacked following such a poor run of form, but his exit was reportedly done over the phone as he was on his way into Rush Green.
Demonstrations against Sullivan are set to continue, and the Welsh businessman will likely be forced to sell should supporters not let him off.
Nuno is likely to have a long spell with the Hammers should he keep them up and guide them to European football next season, like he did with Nottingham Forest.
Should the time come for his exit, it is hoped that new owners will be in charge to make it less abrupt.
